Arkansas Destination Guide |
Arkansas Travel Though Arkansas encompasses the Mississippi Delta in the east, oil-rich timber lands in the south, and the sweeping Ouachita (Wash-i-taw) Mountains in the west, the cragged and charismatic Ozark Mountains in the north are its most scenic asset, where the main attractions for tourists are the uncrowded parks and unspoiled rivers. Incidentally, "Arkansas" is a distorted version of the name of a small Indian tribe; the state legislature declared once and for all in 1881 that the correct pronunciation is Arkansaw. |

Louisiana Destination Guide |
Louisiana Travel Though Louisiana was not physically scarred by the Civil War, with few important battles fought on its soil, its economy was ravaged, and its social structures all but destroyed. The Reconstruction era, too, hit particularly hard here, with the once great city of New Orleans suffering a period of unprecedented lawlessness and racial violence. In time the economy, at least, recovered, benefiting from the key importance of the mighty Mississippi River and the discovery of offshore oil, but over the last century Louisiana has come to rely more and more heavily upon tourism, centered around New Orleans and Cajun country. And it's not hard to see why: whether canoeing along a moss-tangled bayou, dining in a crumbling Creole cottage on spicy, buttery crawfish, or dancing on a steamy starlit night to the best live music in the world, few visitors fail to fall in love with Louisiana. |

Texas Destination Guide |
Texas Travel Preconceived ideas about what exactly is "Texan" are soon shattered. It's actually one of the most eclectic and cosmopolitan states in the Union and each of the major tourist destinations has its own distinct character. Hispanic San Antonio, for example, with its Mexican population and historic importance, has a laid-back feel absent from the big-city neurosis of Houston or Dallas, while trendy Austin revels in a lively music scene and intellectualism found nowhere else in the state. |
Texas Events Texas Renaissance Festival (Houston, TX) Sat October 11, 2008 through Sun November 30, 2008 The nation's largest and most acclaimed renaissance theme park, where the sights, sounds, tastes, and beauty of the 16th Century, comes alive for 8 weekends. Featuring: Live music on the Cloister Stage; Full contact jousting three times daily; The Beautiful Gardens of New Market Village; 20 stages with over 200 performances daily; Over 300 Arts and Crafts Shoppes; Foods from around the world at 60 different shoppes; The Royal Fireworks, nightly at The Tournament Field; Over 3,000 costumed characters daily. |
ABOUT
The TennTrips Story: TennTrips started as a hobby in 1996, and as a means to learn HTML.
After 7 years, and much trial and error, the site grew to the #4 spot on Google for "Tennessee Tourism" with 2000+ visitors / day!
It had become the premier place to find Tennessee vacation planning information !
Free listings allowed even the small mom & pop sites an affordable alternative to expensive advertising venues on the web!
In 2005 a hacker destroyed the site by coding over several parts of the site with garbage, then
late 2006 our server crashed and destroyed the site.
Our back-up files were also lost in the crash, so every bit of work done for 10 years was lost forever!!!
In December 2007 someone stole my computer (from a church parking lot no less), with all my work programs and site files!
(if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all)
THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN - It's been a learning experience re-creating this site. Along the way several improvements have been
made, including use of database entries for our listings instead of hand coding the listings for each city page.
Doppler radar, weather forcasts, satellite views, and local gas prices were added to the city pages.
Geo-coding has been added to allow a
more complete list of towns, and better 'towns close by' listings, including the ability to list towns across state lines.
Adding Longitude and Latitude allowed us to add more complete weather and mapping.
More states can be added much quicker, and major site changes can be done in a matter of days instead of months.
SPREAD THE WORD - TennTrips is BACK with a vengence! We STILL give EVERY tourist related site a FREE listing!
Advertising space INCLUDING a web link, and ALL FOR NOTHING!!
They can even post thier photo's in our GALLERY for FREE!
Tell EVERYONE about TennTrips - and watch us GROW, as we rise from the ashes to AGAIN be the premier site for tourism information in the SOUTH!
(Tennessee is now only PART of TennTrips, as we grow to cover all of the Southern States and maybe more.)
Get Involved - Do you have a FAVORITE pic-nic spot, scenic drive, restaurant, park, attraction, golf course, campground etc???
Tell them about us!!
Had a great (or NOT so great) experience at one of our listed businesses, use our new 'RATING SYSTEM' to let others know!
It might not be "PRETTY", but it's functional !!
I try to make the site as functional as possible. The goal is to provide more information than anyone other tourism site.
We're getting there, and would appreciate your suggestions and comments!!
Site suggestions and comments can be sent to webmaster at tenntrips com
(to prevent spam you'll need to enter the address in your mail program with the @ sign - sorry)
Thanks For Visiting !!!
Our listings are FREE !
If you're not listed, YOU SHOULD BE.
Submit Your Site or List Your Business
We provide our listings for FREE. This allows us to provide as much vacation planning information as possible to our visitors.
Even the smallest 'mom & pop' tourist attraction can be found here because everyone can afford to get listed!
Other tourism sites charge businesses to list, at sometimes outrageous prices! This makes it impossible for many
smaller businesses to compete with the "big guys" because they don't have a huge advertising budget!
At TennTrips the smallest tourism related business, or new businesses with little or no advertising budget can list their
attraction, link it to their own website, and enter a generous amount of promotional information at NO COST!
TennTrips is the tourism champion by allowing EVERYBODY to list regardless of their budget.
We've been doing this for 10 YEARS, and still going strong! If you'd like to HELP THIS PROJECT,
PLEASE make a donation! Our operating costs are going UP, and our advertising funds are going DOWN!
Donations of ANY amount are appreciated....
