Umatilla man arrested for DUII after three-vehicle crash

A 20-year-old Umatilla man was arrested Sunday after a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 395 north of Hermiston. The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. when a southbound Mazda RX8 traveling at high speeds crashed into the back of a southbound Honda Accord, Oregon State Police said.

Pickup hit by train after getting stuck on the tracks

UMATILLA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- This morning, at about 4am, the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office responded to a car versus train crash at the railroad crossing located on E. Highland and Loop Road just east of Hermiston. Juan Martinez, age 27, from Hermiston experienced a flat rear tire on his 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup while traveling east on E. Highland near the railroad crossing.

Oregon Worker Severs Fingers At Potato Plant: Safety Division

Oregon's Occupational Safety and Health Division is investigating after a female employee severed four fingers on her right hand in a workplace accident at a potato plant in Boardman. The East Oregonian reported that agency spokeswoman Melanie Mesaros says the unidentified woman was cleaning around machinery used to cut potatoes when the accident occurred last Thursday at Oregon Potato Co.

Repeat offender in Hermiston sentenced to 150 days in jail

Over the weekend, Hermiston Police officers took a report of a residence being burglarized and a vehicle stolen from the 700 block of W. Highland Avenue. Officers later located the vehicle on the 900 block of NW Stockton Avenue at the residence of the suspect, 26-year-old Marcus D. Wise.
