The big news in the community of Hermiston, Ore., is that a local teacher has been charged with harassment but a student says the teacher did much more. In fact the student says the teacher chocked him until he couldn't breathe.

Hermiston Christmas Express gets 54 bikes
The 45th annual Hermiston Christmas Express Program is well underway and so far the donations have been incredible. An anonymous male purchased new bicycles and helmets at the local Walmart to be donated to the program.

Washington shooting suspect caught in Oregon
Federal marshals have captured a man in Eastern Oregon who was sought in a shooting last week in Washington state. The East Oregonian reports that 32-year-old Tyree Q. Houfmuse was taken into custody Monday at an apartment complex in Hermiston.

River Point breaks ground on new facility
Hermiston, Ore.-based River Point broke ground Nov. 3 on the 70,000-square-foot facility, according to a company news release. The new building, scheduled to be completed in July, will give River Point 95,000 square feet of packaging and shipping space at its Hermiston headquarters.

UPS truck crashes on I-84 in eastern Oregon; driver will recover, Christmas presents might not
Because of icy conditions and a remote condition, police say it could take as long as a few days to unload this UPS truck that crashed Thursday morning on Interstate 84 near Hermiston. First, the good news: UPS driver Odell Thomas is going to be fine.

Trucker critical after being hit while standing outside his stranded rig
UMATILLA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- On today's date, at about 6:20am, the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office and the Umatilla Police Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian motor vehicle crash on Interstate 82, at approximately MP .5, just past the Hwy 730 exits. Dean Ding Yao, age 28, from Kennewick, WA was driving his 2005 Subaru Outback southwest on I82 at approximately 40-50 miles per hour on very icy roads when he came upon several stranded vehicles and semi-trucks along the roadway.
