Casino appeals county budget, tax increase
Tunica, owner and operator of the Hollywood Casino in Tunica County, has appealed to the Circuit Court to set aside the county's fiscal year 2015 budget and tax levy, based on nine exceptions to recent activity by the Board of Supervisors. The Bill of Exception/Notice of Appeal was filed Friday, October 10, and cites the Board's failure in August and September to follow proper procedure in giving notice and approving the new budget and levy.

'Threat' puts county on alert
A statement that was taken as a threat or warning had the town of Tunica and Tunica County on heightened alert early this week. Tunica Police Chief Richard Veazey said a Tunica resident was told Sunday by a convenience store employee of Middle Eastern descent, "This country won't be the same after Tuesday."

Local art gallery showcases Mississippi talent
Artists in Mississippi have a new place to call home right here in Tunica at the Crooked Letter Art Gallery. Heather McGregor, owner of the gallery, said she recently opened it to bring something new to the area.
